First published in December 2002, the journal has, since 2009, been continuously included in the “Taiwan Humanities Citation Index Core Journals” (THCI Core), as recognized by the Ministry of Science and Technology. Following the index's renaming to “THCI” in 2016, the journal has consistently been rated as a Tier 1 journal in the field of literature.

Based on the five-year impact factor (IF) analysis conducted across 18 academic disciplines within the Taiwan Humanities and Social Sciences Citation Index System, the National Central Library has published a list of Taiwan’s most influential academic resources. In 2016, Wen and Philosophy was awarded second place in the “Most Influential Journal in the Field of Literature.” In 2019, it received both the “Knowledge Communication Award” and the “Knowledge Impact Award.” That same year, the journal was selected for inclusion in the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI) database curated by the Chinese Social Science Research Evaluation Center at Nanjing University.

In 2020, based on the five-year impact factor (using 2018 as the reference year), Literature & Philosophy received third place in the “Journal Instant Communication Award” under the Taiwan Academic Resource Influence Awards.
